My life goal become more ambitious and slightly more distant last week. After describing to a new colleague at work my ambition to co-author an academic paper (at a top-tier journal) with an ACI she mentioned a recent experience with publication counts. She was the student representative at her department's tenure selection committee, and she was unhappily surprised by the emphasis on publication counts. As soon as she said this and I started to defend the use of an objective standard, it occurred to me that a natural step after an AGI publishes a paper will be for them to aspire to a tenured position!! It will happen one day and hopefully, because of my assistance, a few days earlier than not.
Updated Beliefs
- One day an AGI will publish an academic paper at a top-tier conference.
- One day an AGI will receive a PhD from a top-tier university.
- One day an AGI will be offered a professorship at a top-tier university.
