A mention is a subsequence of an utterance that is (or approximates) a referencer (to a meaning outside of the grammar).

- It can range from being a Written Mention to being a Spoken Mention.
- It can range from being an Entity Mention to being a Relation Mention.
- It can be detected (its components identified) by a Mention Detection Task.
- It can be classified to a Concept Class by a Mention Classification Task.
- It can be linked to a Concept Record by a Mention_Resolution Task.
- Example(s):
- an Entity Mention, such as: a Product Mention or a Product Category Mention.
- a Relation Mention.
