    • Typesafe is a company founded by Martin Odersky and the creators of the Scala programming language and Akka middleware in 2011. It provides training, consulting, maintenance and commercial support for the Scala programming language and its associated technologies. They offer a custom packaging of the Scala programming language, Play Framework, Akka and other developer tools called the Typesafe Stack. The company is one of the backers of Play Framework and also developed a plugin for the Eclipse IDE called Scala IDE for Eclipse. The company's current CEO is Mark Brewer, the chairman and chief architect is Martin Odersky and the vice president of engineering is Derek Henninger. Typesafe initially raised $3 million for Series A funding from Greylock Partners. Typesafe then raised another $14 million for Series B from Shasta Ventures, Greylock Partners, Juniper Networks and Francois Stieger. Typesafe hosts an annual conference called Scala Days which brings together developers from around the world to share their experiences and new ideas around creating applications with Scala.
