Olmesartan Medoxomil
An Olmesartan Medoxomil is an Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker that is structurally characterized as a prodrug.
- Context:
- It can be chemically described as a Benzimidazole Derivative.
- It can be hydrolyzed to its active metabolite, olmesartan, in the gastrointestinal tract.
- It can have a selective and competitive antagonism of the Angiotensin II Type 1 Receptor.
- It can be more lipid-soluble than other ARBs, influencing its absorption and plasma concentration.
- It can exhibit a high affinity for the AT1 receptor subtype, which is responsible for the blood pressure-lowering effect.
- It can have a molecular formula of C29H30N6O6 and a molecular weight of 558.59 g/mol.
- It can be insoluble in water but soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide and methanol.
